As of February 5, 2009, Paperspring, alongside our parent company, Charlie Chan Printing, is one of the very few online social stationery websites to become certified as a chain-of-custody provider of environmentally-sustainable products by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). Some social stationery websites print on FSC-certified paper, but becoming an FSC-certified printer is a much higher standard that ensures following more stringent requirements of environmental sustainability. By joining the small minority of FSC-certified printers, Paperspring has shown through a rigorous and independent audit that we follow chain-of-custody procedures which track and record the usage of recycled paper content from the forest of origin through our production and to the end user.

This verifies that the recycled paper we use contains material from well-managed, sustainable forests that get re-planted and that also respect the human rights of workers in over 45 countries. The FSC is an international non-profit organization that is currently the global and national leader in the independent certification of forests managed to exemplary environmental and socio-economic standards. Recycling, Soy Inks, Waterless Printing, Chemistry-Free Printing and Other Measures

Although our FSC-certification is the official marking of our green movement, Paperspring and our parent company, Charlie Chan Printing, have been part of the environmentally-conscious movement for years. To that end, we implement the following environmentally-friendly procedures in our printing operation:

• Use of soy-based inks in all of our conventional offset printing
• Chemistry-free and waterless printing on our Direct Imaging press
• Extremely low waste, waterless printing and reusable plates on our digital offset press, used for creation of most of the announcements, invitations and cards on Paperspring
• Use of lower VOC-compounds in cleaning our presses
• Recycling of all material used in our facility, including paper, plates, packaging material, bottles, cans and more
